Awuzie Seeks National Support as Security Conference Draws Over 3,000 Participants

Convener of the National Private Security Conference (NPSC), Dr. Charles Awuzie, has called on Nigerians to support a nationwide initiative aimed at generating practical solutions to the country’s growing security challenges through dialogue and collaboration.

Awuzie made the appeal ahead of the conference scheduled for June 13, 2026, revealing that his Facebook account was recently restricted for 24 hours after being mass reported, a development he linked to his efforts to mobilise Nigerians for the event.

According to him, the conference is not a protest but a platform designed to bring together citizens, professionals, technical experts, security stakeholders and leaders to exchange ideas and explore workable solutions to insecurity across the country.

He disclosed that over 3,000 Nigerians from various professional and technical backgrounds have already registered for the event, describing the response as encouraging and a testament to the desire of many citizens to contribute positively to national security discussions.

“This is not about politics. It is about finding solutions for our children, our communities and fellow citizens affected by insecurity. We are calling Nigerians into a room to collaborate and share ideas on how to move the country forward,” he said.

Awuzie noted that despite organising events across several countries, including China, the United Kingdom and South Africa, preparations for the security conference have been among the most challenging he has experienced.

He, however, expressed confidence that the gathering could mark a turning point in citizen engagement on security matters and help inspire a new era of patriotism and national responsibility.

The conference will also feature an exhibition of military and security equipment manufactured by Nigerian companies, showcasing indigenous innovations and local capacity in the defence sector.

Awuzie encouraged content creators, professionals and members of the public to participate in the event, describing it as a unique opportunity to engage with security stakeholders and witness locally developed defence technologies.

He urged Nigerians to support initiatives that promote constructive dialogue and collective action, stressing that tackling insecurity requires cooperation among citizens, security agencies, policymakers and the private sector.

The National Private Security Conference is expected to bring together thousands of participants from across the country to discuss strategies for enhancing security, strengthening collaboration and promoting sustainable peace and development in Nigeria.
