Woman Alleges EFCC Left Her Without Water, Electricity for Five Days Despite Court Order

Ambassador Dr. Rebecca Omokamo Godwin-Isaac has alleged that she has been left without basic amenities for five consecutive days after operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) remained at her residence in Guzape, Abuja, amid an ongoing property dispute.

According to Godwin-Isaac, she has been without water, electricity and cooking gas since Monday, June 29, 2026, leaving her unable to cook, access basic utilities or live comfortably in her home at Plot 4022, Guzape.

She claimed she is currently the only occupant of the residence and has been forced to endure what she described as darkness, hunger, thirst, fear and emotional distress while uncertainty surrounds her safety.

Godwin-Isaac argued that the matter has gone beyond a property dispute, describing it as a humanitarian concern involving the denial of essential living conditions while the case remains before a competent court.

She further disclosed that on July 3, 2026, the Federal High Court in Abuja, in Suit No. FHC/ABJ/CS/151/2026, issued an enrolled order directing all parties to maintain the status quo ante bellum pending the determination of the case.

According to her representatives, the application before the court sought, among other reliefs, the vacation of the residence at Plot 4022, Guzape, and protection against further harassment, intimidation or any action connected to the property until the matter is resolved.

They stated that the enrolled court order was served on the EFCC and that receipt of the document was acknowledged. However, they alleged that despite the court’s directive, the water and electricity supply to the residence remain disconnected.

The EFCC has not publicly responded to the allegations as of the time of filing this report.
