Nigerian Afrobeats superstar Damini Ogulu, popularly known as Burna Boy, and Colombian pop icon Shakira have shared a warm moment ahead of their performance at the historic FIFA World Cup 2026 final halftime show.
Burna Boy posted a video on his official X account on Friday showing the two artistes embracing and smiling during rehearsals for Sunday’s event at the New York New Jersey Stadium (MetLife Stadium) in the United States.
Captioning the video, the Grammy Award-winning singer wrote: “Sunday Prep! @shakira See you at the @FIFAWorldCup Final! Dai dai, ikó, dale, allez, let’s go!”
The video, accompanied by photos, captured Burna Boy and Shakira in a relaxed atmosphere as they laughed and exchanged a hug outside the production trailers at the venue.
The performance will form part of the first-ever FIFA World Cup final halftime show, a landmark entertainment event curated by Chris Martin of Coldplay and produced in partnership with Global Citizen.
According to FIFA, the halftime show will feature global music stars including Shakira, Madonna, BTS and Justin Bieber as co-headliners, with Burna Boy, conductor Gustavo Dudamel and the PS22 Chorus featuring Coldplay also set to perform. The event is designed to support the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund, which aims to expand access to education and football opportunities for children worldwide.
The FIFA World Cup final between Argentina and Spain is scheduled for Sunday, July 19, 2026.
