Troops Repel Terrorist Attack Along Jengeru–Moriki Road in Zamfara

Troops of Joint Task Force North-West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, in collaboration with the Mobile Strike Team (MST), have successfully repelled a terrorist attack along the Jengeru–Moriki road in Shinkafi Local Government Area of Zamfara State.

The incident occurred at about 12:00 p.m. on August 7, 2026, following credible intelligence on the presence of suspected terrorists around Kwanar Jolof along the route.

Acting swiftly on the intelligence, the troops mobilised to the area and engaged the attackers with superior firepower, forcing them to withdraw in disarray.

Following the engagement, the troops conducted an extensive sweep and dominated the surrounding area, recovering one motorcycle, two camouflage uniforms, a camouflage vest, a jungle hat, a mosquito net and a sleeping mat believed to have been abandoned by the fleeing terrorists.

The sustained military presence along the route restored confidence among residents and motorists, with normal vehicular activities subsequently returning to the area.

The troops later returned to base at about 4:00 p.m. after successfully securing and dominating the area.

The operation underscores the commitment of troops under Operation FANSAN YAMMA to sustaining offensive operations against terrorist and criminal elements, protecting communities and ensuring the safe movement of residents and motorists across the North-West.
