Petition Calls for Pink’s Removal as UNICEF Ambassador Over Macklemore Criticism

More than 60,000 verified signatures have been gathered on a petition calling for singer Pink to be removed from her role as a UNICEF ambassador following her public criticism of rapper Macklemore’s pro-Palestinian remarks.

The petition was launched on September 11, 2026, after Pink shared an Instagram post criticising Macklemore’s comments during his appearance as an opening act for Ed Sheeran’s tour. Pink later responded to the backlash with a lengthy statement, clarifying that she did not endorse all of the language contained in the post she had shared. She also affirmed her support for Palestinian human rights while defending her decision to criticise Macklemore.

Organisers of the petition are calling on UNICEF to review Pink’s ambassadorial role, arguing that her remarks conflict with what they consider the humanitarian neutrality expected of UNICEF ambassadors.

They said UNICEF ambassadors should advocate for the rights and welfare of children regardless of nationality or political affiliation and called for the organisation to maintain neutrality in humanitarian matters.

UNICEF’s official list of current Goodwill Ambassadors includes prominent figures from music, film and sport who support the organisation’s efforts to raise awareness of issues affecting children worldwide.

The petition follows wider controversy surrounding Macklemore’s comments supporting Palestinians during his performances at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. His remarks prompted criticism and a separate campaign calling for him to be removed from the remaining US dates of Sheeran’s tour.
