The Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening collaboration with the Nigerian Institute of Quantity Surveyors (NIQS) and other professional bodies to promote harmony, professionalism and sustainability in the built environment.

The President of NSE, Engr. Ali Alimasuya Rabiu, FNSE, F.ASCE, FAEng, MFR, gave the assurance on Thursday, October 15, 2026, when the President of NIQS, Dr. Aminu Bashir, FNIQS, led a delegation on a courtesy visit to the NSE National Headquarters.

Rabiu emphasised the importance of cooperation and mutual understanding among professional institutions, noting that stronger partnerships would improve professional practice and support the growth of the built environment sector.

He recalled that during his tenure as President of the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN), efforts were made to strengthen collaboration and improve engagement among stakeholders across the industry.

The NSE president also called on professional bodies to work together to protect their respective professions and address the activities of quacks and unqualified practitioners. He noted that a united approach would help maintain professional standards, promote accountability and sustain public confidence in the industry.

Earlier, Bashir said the delegation visited the NSE headquarters to explore opportunities for collaboration and exchange professional ideas to foster a more harmonious relationship among stakeholders.

He stressed that sustained engagement and the sharing of knowledge, expertise and professional perspectives were essential to strengthening relationships among professional institutions and advancing the collective interests of the industry.

The visit highlighted the commitment of both organisations to deepening professional cooperation, addressing shared challenges and promoting excellence across the built environment.

It also underscored the importance of synergy among engineering, quantity surveying and allied professions in protecting public interests and supporting sustainable national development.
