By Abba Kabara,  Gusau.

In another major crime incidence, Gunmen suspected to be Bandits have in the early hours of today attacked Jangebe female Boarding Secondary School and allegedly abducted 327 students.

The school is located in the Jangebe district Talata Mafara Local Government area of ZAMFARA state.

This is coming barely a few weeks after a similar attack and abduction of over three hundred students of Kagara secondary school in Niger state.

An eyewitness who prefers anonymity said frightening sounds of guns woke up the entire community around 1:30 am.

“We thought they have come to attack residents as they usually do, yet unknown to us,  this time around they targeted the Girls Secondary School where they attacked the students and abducted about 327 of them.

According to him, the bandits drove in on about seven Hilux Vans and abducted the abducted female students and headed towards the direction of Wuya forest under Maru local government, an enclave identified as one of the most dangerous criminals hideouts.

Another witness said the Gunmen who drove in several Hilux pickups vans,  had shot sporadically to scare the people and suppress possible resistance and drove straight to the Girls Secondary school.

“We could hear the wailing cries of the helpless girls screaming for help amidst the complete absence of security,  as we later noticed that their mission was to abduct the students in the school”.

As at the time of preparing this report,  the state police spokesman SP Shehu Muhammad said the command was still preparing a statement on its stand over the incident.

But the commissioner for Security and Home Affairs Hon.  Abubakar Dauran who briefed the press over the unfortunate incidence, confirms that the incidence had happened,  but the government is not in the picture of the actual number of students abducted in the operation.

While condemning the criminal act as unfortunate, Hon.  Duran gave the assurance that as usual,  governor Matawalle is ever committed to doing every humanly possible in his responsibility of protecting the lives and properties of the citizens.

He said the governor is set to play a leading role in the effort to secure the freedom of the victims and liberate them from captivity.
