Al Nassr Reportedly Ready to Part Ways With Cristiano Ronaldo Amid Growing Rift

Saudi Pro League side Al Nassr are reportedly preparing to end their relationship with Cristiano Ronaldo following a deepening rift between the club and the Portuguese superstar.

Ronaldo was left out of Al Nassr’s squad for the second consecutive match, intensifying speculation about his future at the Saudi Arabian club. His absence continued on Friday as Al Nassr secured a 2–0 victory over rivals Al Ittihad, with late goals from former Liverpool forward Sadio Mané and Angelo Gabriel.

According to reports, Al Nassr are now “ready to offload” Ronaldo, with club officials said to be firm in their stance that no individual player is bigger than the long-term project they are building within the Saudi Pro League.

Tensions are believed to have escalated in recent weeks, with the former Real Madrid and Manchester United star reportedly unhappy over what he sees as a lack of ambition and insufficient backing in the transfer market. Ronaldo is said to feel that other Public Investment Fund (PIF)-linked clubs have received preferential treatment, pointing to Karim Benzema’s high-profile move to Al Hilal as a notable example.

The dispute appeared to reach a peak when Ronaldo missed Al Nassr’s recent league wins against Al Riyadh and Al Ittihad, fuelling speculation that he may have effectively withdrawn from selection. Spanish outlet Fichajes claims the situation worsened after details emerged of a release clause in his contract, reportedly valued at around £44 million and set to become active at the end of the season.

The report further alleges that Ronaldo has formally informed PIF and Saudi Pro League officials of his intention to leave if the issues are not resolved. Interest is reportedly growing from Major League Soccer, while former clubs Manchester United and Sporting CP are also said to be monitoring the situation as the 2026 World Cup approaches.

As uncertainty surrounds Ronaldo’s future, all eyes remain on Al Nassr and the Saudi Pro League to see how one of the most high-profile partnerships in global football will ultimately unfold.
