The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has confirmed that 15 candidates will contest against incumbent Governor Chukwuma Soludo in the upcoming Anambra State governorship election scheduled for November 8, 2025. Governor Soludo, representing the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), secured his party’s nomination unopposed during the primaries held in Awka. He received overwhelming support from delegates, affirming his candidacy for a second term. The Leading Opposition
Among the prominent challengers is Chief George Moghalu of the Labour Party (LP), who emerged victorious in his party’s primary election. Moghalu, a former Managing Director of the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA), has pledged to bring inclusive governance and infrastructural development to Anambra State.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) has fielded Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu as its candidate. Ukachukwu secured the party’s nomination after a keenly contested primary, positioning himself as a formidable contender in the forthcoming election.
