Buratai Urges Nigerians to Unite Against Terrorist and Bandit Propaganda

Retired Lieutenant General Tukur Yusuf Buratai, former Chief of Army Staff, has called on Nigerians to actively support the Federal Government’s efforts in countering the propaganda disseminated by terrorists and bandits. He emphasized that the fight against insecurity is a collective responsibility that requires the involvement of all citizens.

Speaking at a recent event in Abuja, Buratai highlighted the importance of public cooperation in providing timely and credible information to security agencies. He noted that such collaboration is crucial in dismantling the networks and narratives propagated by insurgents.
“The military is committed to safeguarding the nation, but success in this endeavor depends significantly on the support and active participation of the populace,” Buratai stated.
He urged communities to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities, thereby contributing to the nation’s security architecture.
Buratai also addressed the psychological warfare employed by terrorist groups, cautioning against the spread of misinformation that could undermine public confidence and morale. He called on media outlets and individuals to verify information before dissemination, to prevent inadvertently aiding the objectives of these groups.
Reflecting on his tenure as Chief of Army Staff, Buratai reiterated the military’s commitment to adapting strategies to effectively combat evolving threats. He praised the ongoing efforts of the Armed Forces and encouraged continued resilience and unity among Nigerians to overcome the challenges posed by terrorism and banditry.
