Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar Emphasises President Tinubu’s 4Ds Framework in Engagement with Nigerians in Netherlands

Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, Minister of Foreign Affairs, recently convened with Nigerian professionals in the Netherlands, anchoring discussions on the “Tinubu 4Ds” framework—a cornerstone of Nigeria’s engagement strategy with its diaspora.

Ahead of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s participation at the Nigeria-Dutch Business and Investment Forum on April 24, 2024, Ambassador Tuggar emphasised the four central pillars of the framework: Democracy, Development, Demography, and Diaspora.

Addressing the gathering, Ambassador Tuggar highlighted the critical role of the Nigerian diaspora in advancing national development. He reiterated President Tinubu’s commitment to fostering closer ties with Nigerians abroad and harnessing their potential to drive economic growth.

At the engagement, which served as a platform to discuss investment opportunities in Nigeria. Ambassador Tuggar showcased the favourable business climate, ongoing economic reforms, and investment incentives available to Nigerians in the diaspora seeking to invest back home.

Additionally, the Minister unveiled government plans to establish financial instruments like the Diaspora Fund. “This is aimed at mobilising resources for infrastructure, healthcare, and agricultural programs. This government is committed to prioritising the diaspora through frameworks such as the Diaspora Fund and sector-based communities to leverage their expertise and contributions to national development.”

Furthermore, Ambassador Tuggar reiterated the government’s commitment to exploring avenues for granting dual citizenship to Nigerians abroad and facilitating diaspora voting in future elections. These initiatives align with the “Tinubu 4Ds” framework’s focus on engaging with the diaspora to propel Nigeria’s progress across all fronts.

The engagement underscored the government’s dedication to implementing strategic measures that leverage the potential of the diaspora to stimulate Nigeria’s economic growth and development.

The President is expected to head to Dubai, in the United Arab Emirate, after his business trip to the Netherlands.
