Charles Ukpong Celebrates Diamond Jubilee with Acts of Benevolence

In a remarkable display of generosity, renowned entertainment industry guru Charles Ukpong granted cash gifts to ten deserving widows. Each widow received a substantial sum of 100,000 Naira during an event commemorating Ukpong’s Diamond Jubilee at the Glory Worship Centre (GWC), an esteemed parish of the Redeemed Christian Church of God located in Lagos.
Ukpong, a Fellow of Theatre Arts, opted to express gratitude to God for his life’s blessings and to contribute to his immediate community on reaching this significant age. Surviving various health challenges, Ukpong felt compelled to acknowledge divine mercy and unexpected assistance that sustained him.
“In marking this Diamond Jubilee, I am compelled to recognize the abundant blessings and unwavering grace that have guided me, alongside the extraordinary kindness of individuals with noble hearts,” Ukpong expressed.
Reflecting on his journey to sixty, Ukpong remarked on the trials and tribulations he faced, including periods of hunger, homelessness, financial instability, and grave health crises. Yet, he expressed profound gratitude for the unwavering support he received from unexpected quarters, attributing his resilience to the kindness of both divine providence and compassionate individuals.
Eschewing extravagant celebrations, Ukpong, dedicated his Diamond Jubilee celebration to widows, whom he lauded for their grace and resilience in the face of adversity. He envisioned his modest contribution not only as a means of immediate relief for widows in distress but also as a symbol of hope and compassion amidst prevailing economic challenges. The beneficiaries, chosen through a random selection process, received their financial assistance promptly following the ceremony.
The event garnered attendance from a diverse array of guests, including friends, family, congregants, and clergy, with Pastor Tope Akinbola leading the congregation alongside his wife, Pastor (Mrs) Tope Akinbola. Also present were members of the National Alumni of Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro, led by its President, Comrade Tade Ademola, as well as entertainment industry professionals led by NANTAP Secretary General, DT Makinde Adeniran and Prof Duro Oni, who is Chairman of the Body of Fellows of NANTAP. The Wisdom Group, comprising the distinguished Elders of Glory Worship Centre led by Elder Lanre Jaiyeola, who represented the Chairman of the Group, Elder Gbolahan Ojora; demonstrated their solidarity with Ukpong’s philanthropic endeavor through their massive presence.
Radiating joy and gratitude at the day’s success, Ukpong, a veteran of theatre, film, and television, expressed heartfelt appreciation to all who supported his vision, promising future opportunities for involvement as he plans to make the charitable event an annual tradition, contingent upon divine providence.
