The Federal High Court in Abuja has granted bail to the presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC) and publisher, Omoyele Sowore, in the sum of ₦200 million.

Delivering the ruling, Justice Mohammed Umar ordered that Sowore must provide two sureties before he can be released from custody.

According to the court, one of the sureties must be a traditional ruler from Sowore’s community, while the second must own landed property in Abuja. The court also directed that both sureties be verified by the prosecution.

Justice Umar further ordered Sowore to surrender his international passport to the Deputy Chief Registrar of the court as part of the bail conditions.
