Court Premises Erupts in Chaos as Two Wives Clash During Husband’s Bail Hearing in India
A routine bail hearing at the Civil Lines Court in Meerut, India, turned dramatic when a dispute between the two wives of a defendant escalated into a physical confrontation within the court premises.
The incident involved Furkan, a resident of the Purva Mahavir area near Delhi Gate, who had been arrested in connection with an alleged assault and public disturbance case stemming from a neighbourhood dispute.
According to reports, Furkan’s first wife, Shabana, whom he has been married to for about 20 years, and his second wife, Shaheen, arrived at the court alongside their relatives to support efforts to secure his release on bail.
However, tensions reportedly flared between the two families shortly after they arrived at the court. What began as a verbal disagreement quickly escalated into a violent altercation involving both women and their relatives.
Witnesses said the confrontation included slapping, hair-pulling and other physical attacks, causing panic among those present at the court complex. At least three women were reportedly injured during the clash.
Police officers and court security personnel intervened to bring the situation under control and restore order within the premises.
Despite the disturbance, Furkan was granted bail and subsequently released. However, members of both families involved in the altercation were reportedly taken into custody for questioning and could face further legal action over the incident.
Authorities are said to be investigating the circumstances surrounding the clash as part of efforts to maintain security and decorum within the court environment.
