FG Delegation Visits Dangote Refinery, Reaffirms Support for Nigeria’s Energy Sector
A high-level Federal Government delegation, comprising key officials in the petroleum sector, has visited the Dangote Refinery in Lagos as part of ongoing stakeholder engagement aimed at strengthening collaboration within Nigeria’s oil and gas industry.
The delegation included the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Upstream Petroleum, Senator Eteng Williams; the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Oil), Senator Heineken Lokpobiri; the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Gas), Rt. Hon. Ekperikpe Ekpo; and members of the management and board of the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC).
Also on the visit were the Chairman of the NUPRC Board, Senator Magnus Ngei Abe, and the Commission Chief Executive, Mrs. Oritsemeyiwa Eyesan.
The delegation was received by the Group Vice President, Oil, Gas and Fertiliser of Dangote Industries Limited, Mr. Devakumar Edwin, who provided an overview of the refinery’s development, describing it as the world’s largest single-train refinery.
Edwin also outlined the company’s short- and long-term plans, including efforts to expand its refining capacity to meet growing domestic demand and strengthen Nigeria’s position in the global energy market.
Speaking on behalf of the Federal Government, the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Gas), Rt. Hon. Ekperikpe Ekpo, reaffirmed the government’s commitment to supporting the refinery, noting that the project plays a strategic role in enhancing Nigeria’s energy security, creating employment opportunities and driving economic growth.
The visit forms part of the Federal Government’s broader engagement with critical stakeholders in the petroleum industry to promote investment, strengthen regulatory collaboration and advance the development of Nigeria’s oil and gas sector.
