The Nigerian Economic Summit Group has reaffirmed the importance of private sector participation in shaping economic policies, following a strategic engagement with Rohan D’Souza, Vice President, Gas & Commercial at Shell Exploration & Production Africa.

The meeting highlighted the critical role of collaboration between public and private sector stakeholders in ensuring that economic reforms are practical, implementable, and impactful.

Discussions during the engagement focused on strengthening Nigeria’s investment climate through key enablers such as fiscal policy stability, regulatory certainty, and the mobilisation of long-term foreign direct investment (FDI).

Shell reaffirmed its commitment to Nigeria’s economy, noting its ongoing investments and stressing the importance of consistent and predictable policies in sustaining investor confidence and capital inflows.

Both parties underscored the need to leverage the energy sector as a catalyst for industrialisation, economic diversification, and inclusive growth, while also advancing broader reform outcomes across the economy.

The NESG noted that Shell has remained a longstanding partner in the Nigerian Economic Summit process, contributing to policy advocacy and reform development since the platform’s inception.

The engagement reflects NESG’s ongoing efforts to translate strategic priorities into actionable partnerships that unlock investment opportunities, strengthen reform implementation, and enhance Nigeria’s global economic competitiveness.

The NESG delegation at the meeting included its Chief Economist and Director of Research and Development, Dr. Olusegun Omisakin, alongside senior officials from its corporate affairs, stakeholder management, and think tank operations units.
