Police Rescue Ex-Minister Adelabu’s Sister, Twin Sons; Two Suspected Kidnappers Killed
Operatives of the Nigeria Police Force have rescued Mrs. Olaide Busayo Adegoke John-Paul and her 12-year-old twin sons, Peter and Paul, during a late-night operation conducted on Saturday, June 6, 2026.
The rescue operation, which took place at about 7:30 p.m., resulted in a gun battle between police operatives and members of a suspected kidnapping syndicate. Two of the suspects were neutralised during the exchange of fire, while two firearms were recovered from the scene.
Mrs. John-Paul, who is the younger sister of former Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, and her children were abducted on June 3, 2026, at about 7:30 a.m.
According to security sources, the victims were kidnapped while travelling to drop the children at school before they were taken to an unknown location by their captors.
The successful rescue followed coordinated efforts by security personnel who tracked the kidnappers and launched an operation that led to the victims’ safe recovery.
Police authorities confirmed that the mother and her twin sons were rescued alive and reunited with their family.
Meanwhile, security operatives have intensified search operations in surrounding communities and forests to apprehend other members of the gang who escaped during the confrontation.
Investigators believe some of the fleeing suspects may have sustained gunshot wounds and are currently being tracked by security agencies.
The Nigeria Police Force reaffirmed its commitment to combating kidnapping and other violent crimes, assuring the public that efforts are ongoing to dismantle criminal networks operating across the country.
The incident highlights continued security concerns over kidnapping for ransom, a crime that has remained a major challenge in several parts of Nigeria despite ongoing counter-crime operations by security agencies.
