President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Monday swore in Mr. Joseph Olasunkanmi Tegbe as the new Minister of Power and Ambassador Sola Enikanolaiye as the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs.

The brief ceremony took place at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, in the presence of family members, senior government officials, and aides.

The appointments followed the resignations of former Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, and former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Tuggar, who stepped down to pursue their political ambitions.

Both nominees were subsequently cleared by the Senate on May 6, 2026, paving the way for their formal inauguration into the Federal Executive Council.

Joseph Tegbe, an accomplished fiscal and economic reform expert from Oyo State, brings more than three decades of experience spanning both the public and private sectors. He holds a First Class degree in Civil Engineering from Obafemi Awolowo University, as well as postgraduate qualifications in Business Administration and Public Administration.

Before his appointment, Tegbe served as a Senior Partner and Head of Advisory Services at KPMG Africa, where he led several public-sector transformation initiatives, fiscal reforms, and governance projects. He has also worked with key institutions and corporations, including the Nigerian Communications Commission, Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission, Shell, Huawei, General Electric, MTN, and Odu’a Group.

Meanwhile, Ambassador Sola Enikanolaiye, a seasoned career diplomat from Kogi State, assumes office as Minister of State for Foreign Affairs after decades of service in Nigeria’s diplomatic corps.

A graduate of Ahmadu Bello University and the University of Lagos, Enikanolaiye joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1982 and rose to become Permanent Secretary of the ministry before retiring in 2017.

Throughout his diplomatic career, he served in several Nigerian missions, including postings in Ethiopia, Serbia, Canada, the United Kingdom, and India, where he was Nigeria’s Head of Mission in New Delhi.

Prior to his appointment, Enikanolaiye served as Senior Special Assistant to President Tinubu on Foreign Affairs and International Relations in the Office of the Chief of Staff.

The appointments are expected to strengthen the administration’s efforts in the critical sectors of power and foreign relations as the government pursues its economic and diplomatic objectives.
