The suspect was apprehended on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, during an intelligence-driven stop-and-search operation along the Sokoto–Gusau Road in Zamfara State. The operation forms part of ongoing military efforts to cut off supply routes and deny terrorists access to resources required for their activities.
Military sources disclosed that the suspect was intercepted while driving a Honda Civic vehicle. A detailed search of the vehicle uncovered a large quantity of tactical items suspected to be intended for terrorist and bandit groups operating within the North-West.
Items recovered include 150 pairs of combat boots, three jackknives, three electric shockers, a tear gas canister, a military beret, and a military belt. Troops also recovered two Android mobile phones, an iPad, and a digital wristwatch believed to contain information that could assist ongoing investigations.
Security analysts have described the operation as a major success, noting that disrupting logistics and supply chains remains one of the most effective ways to degrade the operational capabilities of terrorist and bandit groups.
The arrest further highlights the growing effectiveness of Operation FANSAN YAMMA’s intelligence-led operations and intensified security checks across major routes in the North-West region.
Military authorities said the suspect remains in custody for further interrogation, while the recovered items have been secured as exhibits. Troops have also intensified efforts to identify and apprehend other members of the suspected network.
The Armed Forces reaffirmed their commitment to sustaining offensive and intelligence-based operations aimed at dismantling terrorist infrastructure, disrupting support networks, and restoring peace and stability across Zamfara State and the wider North-West region.
