APC group expresses concern over lack of internal democracy in the party

By Ahmed Ahmed

A group, under the aegis of New Dawn Organisation of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Bauchi State has expressed displeasure over what it described as a lack of internal democracy which is a threat to the party at all levels in the country.

The leader of the group, Mr Abdullahi Tanko stated this at press conference on Tuesday in Bauchi, calling on President Bola Atinubu to interview members of the community

He lamented that leaders of APC at the national level and the State as well as the entire members of public have suffered neglect and maltreatment.

“We hereby seek for the kind intervention President Tinubu, the National leadership of APC and the Attorney General and Minister of Justice Federal Republic of Nigeria to see that, there is internal democracy in the party,

Thereby allowing for free and fair elections in making the leadership of the party from the wards to the National level so that the members of the party can freely elect the people they want to lead them in the party.

“We are calling on Mr. President to find a soft landing to all the Gubernatorial candidates of APC that felt infringed or cheated by any one,

“So that they can be kept within the fold of our great party the APC as well as to hold and carry along with them their supporters and party members which will be of great advantage to the future political endeavors of the party.

“We hope Mr President will consider, accept and act on this passionate appeal.
A stitch in time saves nine

The group blamed the Federal Government and judiciary for a serious miscarriage of justice mated on the people and members of the party which would remain indelible in the minds of many Nigerians in the history of our judiciary and the young democracy in this country.

“There is no doubt that this scenario is geared seriously towards distraction of our long existing judicial system, and the young democratic government.

“This is because one looks critically towards what transpired in many state governors’ elections and the judicial processes,” Tanko said.

Mr Tanko sympathize with all the APC gubernatorial candidates of various states of the nation particularly Bauchi and Plateau States who lost their cases at the Apex court in the name of mere fear of unnecessary and so called violence in some places particularly their states,

“Thereby resulting in a very serious miscarriage of justice by the supreme court against them and their states.

“Given reference to the cases of Bauchi and Plateau States, for example the case of Bauchi State governorship election cannot be claimed to have been clearly determined by either the tribunal,

“The court below nor the Apex court because none of the three courts that consider the substance and facts of the matter talk less of determining what it contained,” he said.
