APC National Chairman Highlights Politicians’ Role in Election Challenges

Abdullahi Ganduje, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has attributed the challenges in the nation’s electoral process to politicians, labelling them as the “biggest problem.”

Ganduje made this assertion on Wednesday while receiving Hawa Habibu, the director of election and party monitoring for the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

While acknowledging the significant concern of insecurity in election conduct, Ganduje emphasized that politicians also pose a substantial risk to the electoral process. He stated, “It is important for INEC to undertake the exercise so that they can obtain the viability of political parties for the sake of planning and records and in conformity with the law.”

Ganduje pointed out that understanding the rules and regulations of elections is crucial to fostering a civilized political environment. He stressed the need for educational initiatives to guide politicians in complying with electoral norms, emphasizing the digitization of these efforts.

He further revealed that the APC has directed the availability of officers in all party offices, from wards to local governments, zones, and states, to enhance the dissemination of information and education on election regulations. Ganduje underlined the significance of this approach in promoting a better understanding of the requirements for political participation.

Addressing the issue of insecurity, Ganduje urged institutions to play an active role in educating citizens about the rules and regulations governing elections, fostering a responsible and law-abiding political culture.
