APC Refutes Claims of New Leadership in Nasarawa LGA by Accountant General
The All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially disclaimed the appointment of Rt. Hon. Dr. Musa Ahmed Mohammed as the new Forum Chairman in Nasarawa Local Government Area, labelling it an act by a factional group within the party.
The controversy arose when a group of individuals, allegedly members of the APC, convened in Nasarawa LGA to declare the serving Accountant General, Dr. Mohammed, as the new leader.
This move has been met with criticism from party stalwarts, including Hon. Mohammed Abdullahi, who likened the announcement to a “movie script” aimed at misleading supporters.
Hon. Abdullahi has vehemently opposed the portrayal of Dr. Mohammed as the new APC leader in Nasarawa LGA, calling it a “social media show of shame” and a “gross misrepresentation” of the political reality.
The party has clarified that no official position such as ‘Leader of the Party’ at the local government level exists within the APC constitution. Therefore, any claims to such a title are unfounded.
He also outlined several key points to address the situation and said that the role of ‘Leader of the Party’ at the local government level is not recognised by the APC constitution.
“No consensus meeting across the 15 electoral wards of Nasarawa LGA has taken place to endorse anyone as APC leader; the meeting that led to Dr. Mohammed’s anointment was attended only by stakeholders from four electoral wards within Nasarawa Town.
“Local government officials and stakeholders from the remaining eleven wards were notably absent from the meeting.
“The late Senator Abubakar Danso Sodangi, whom Dr. Mohammed reportedly succeeded, was never officially the leader of the APC in Nasarawa LGA but rather led an interest group within the party.
The party stalwarts emphasised the need to correct the false narrative and have reiterated that Dr. Musa Ahmed Mohammed is merely the leader of an interest group within the APC in Nasarawa LGA, not the party leader.
This clarification aims to shed light on the true political dynamics within the APC in Nasarawa and to prevent any further confusion among the public and party members.
