The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General TA Lagbaja, has commissioned a newly constructed, furnished and equipped solar-powered computer laboratory at the Government Girls Secondary School Charanchi in Bichi Local Government Area of Kano State.
The project was part of the Chief of Army Staff Special Intervention Civil-Military Cooperation Project for Major General UB Abubakar, who executed the project with the support of the army chief.
The computer lab has 25 computer sets, an office with a rest room, high-speed internet service and a solar-powered system. It is expected to enhance the learning and teaching of information and communication technology in the school.
The Chief of Army Staff, who was represented by the Chief of Civil-Military Affairs, Major General NC Ugbo, commended Major General UB Abubakar for initiating and completing the project. “I urge the school principal to ensure proper maintenance of the facility.
The event was attended by the representatives of the General Officer Commanding 1 Division Nigerian Army, Brigadier General MA Sadiq, former Kano State Secretary to State Government, Rabiu Usman Bichi, the Chairman of Bichi Local Government Area, community leaders and staff of the school.
The army chief also presented souvenirs and keys of the project to the school principal and posed for group photographs with the guests and students.
