Depot Nigerian Army commended for relentless efforts and continuous excellence

The Special Guest of Honour for Depot Nigerian Army (NA) West Africa Social Activity (WASA) Brigadier General Aliyu Jibril Commandant Nigerian Army School of Military Police commended the Commandant Depot Nigerian Army Officers, soldiers and their families on their relentless efforts, hard work and dedication to the continuous excellence of the training institution. He made this assertion during the just concluded WASA for the year 2023, held at RSM Hamakim Parade Ground Chindit Cantonment on 1 March 2024.

The Special Guest of Honour reminded personnel of Depot Nigerian Army to maintain the core values of the NA which include: Loyalty, Selfless Service, Courage, Discipline, integrity and Respect for Others at all times. He charged officers and soldiers to remain focused and highly resilient to all forms of distractions that are capable of affecting their ability to discharge their duties professionally in line with global best practices.

Earlier in a welcome address, the Commandant Depot Nigerian Army (NA) Major General Mohammed Aminu Abdullahi stated that over 12,000 soldiers were trained in the year 2023 and are presently contributing to the defence and security of our great nation Nigeria. He gave assurance that in the year 2024 Depot Nigerian Army would redouble its efforts in line with the Chief of Army Staff’s Command Philosophy, which is “To Transform Nigerian Army into a well equipped and highly motivated force towards achieving its constitutional Responsibilities in a Joint Environment”.

The Chief host further stated that WASA is an age-long tradition inherited from the founding fathers of the NA which entails the burning of sacrifices, dancing and exposure of masquerades. Presently WASA encompasses the analysis or review of a concluded year as well as to make projections for the new year.

Highlights of the event included multiple cultural troupe displays, presentation of a mimicked quarter guard by children of Depot Nigerian Army Nursery and Primary School, Calisthenics, thug of war and Beating of retreat at sunset conducted by the formation’s Band.
