Army Chief Pledges to Enhance Security Through Community Collaboration

In a bid to bolster security measures and foster community relationships, Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt-General Taoreed Lagbaja, has affirmed the Nigerian Army’s commitment to both kinetic and non-kinetic operations.

This declaration came during the commissioning of a revamped educational facility at Oke’Badan High School in Ibadan, Oyo State.

General Lagbaja emphasised the importance of collaboration between the Nigerian Army and other security agencies to tackle the nation’s security challenges effectively.

He praised Major General Adeyemi Alabi (retired), the project executor, for his dedication to community development and the successful execution of the initiative.

General Lagbaja also expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his unwavering support, which enables the Nigerian Army to implement quick-impact Civil Military Cooperation (CIMIC) projects nationwide.

These projects aim to address community needs and strengthen the relationship between the military and civilians.

Also speaking, Major General Nosakhare Ugbo, Chief of Civil Military Affairs (CCMA), Army, highlighted the significance of such initiatives in promoting peace, stability, and socio-economic growth.

He underscored the importance of community support in achieving the Nigerian Army’s objectives and urged residents to maintain the newly renovated facilities for their benefit and the benefit of the benefit of future generations.

In his address, Major General Alabi emphasised the importance of education in shaping future leaders and commended the COAS for prioritising educational development through corporate social responsibility initiatives. He urged students to dedicate themselves to their studies for academic excellence.

The event, which featured sports activities, dance displays, and speeches from dignitaries including government officials and community leaders, symbolised the collaborative efforts between the military and civilian sectors in enhancing security and promoting development.

General Lagbaja’s commitment to utilising both kinetic and non-kinetic approaches underscores the Nigerian Army’s multifaceted strategy for addressing security challenges and building stronger ties with local communities across the country.
