By Matthew Eloyi

The Chief of Army Standard and Evaluation (CASE), Major General Olumuyiwa Aiyenigba, has praised the operational successes of the 6 Division of the Nigerian Army, attributing the reduction in oil theft and environmental pollution to the Division’s achievements in 2024.

Speaking on January 3, 2025, during a Regimental Dinner Night hosted by the Headquarters 6 Division at Python Officers’ Mess, Port Harcourt Barracks, Major General Aiyenigba revealed that these efforts significantly increased Nigeria’s daily oil production from 1.4 million barrels per day (bpd) to almost 2 million bpd.

“This achievement has greatly boosted the Nigerian economy through increased oil revenue,” he said. He further assured the Division of the continuous support of the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, in sustaining the momentum.

The CASE lauded the Regimental Dinner Night tradition, emphasizing its importance in fostering professionalism and esprit de corps within the military. “I am glad to have witnessed such an auspicious event in an elite military formation like 6 Division,” he stated.

Highlighting the event’s role in strengthening camaraderie among officers, their spouses, and other stakeholders, Major General Aiyenigba noted, “The turnout of security agencies, traditional rulers, and other critical stakeholders demonstrates the command philosophy of the COAS, which places high premium on effective cooperation in a joint and multi-agency environment.”

He also commended the leadership of Major General Jamal Abdussalam, General Officer Commanding, 6 Division, describing it as exemplary. The President of the Mess Committee (PMC), Brigadier General Sani Ahmed, was also praised for his dedication to maintaining the Division’s traditions.

In his vote of thanks, Brigadier General Ahmed expressed gratitude to the CASE, traditional rulers, captains of industry, and other guests for making the event memorable. “We remain committed to continuous synergy with critical stakeholders,” he assured.

The evening featured various highlights, including the presentation of a souvenir to the Special Guest of Honour, a band performance, and a red-carpet photograph session.
