Authority Holds Stakeholders’ Meeting to Strengthen Retail Petroleum Standards
The Authority has convened a Stakeholders Engagement Meeting at its Abuja Regional Office, Jabi Annex, to review and reinforce operational standards across gas and liquid petroleum products retail outlets in the North-Central zone.

In her opening remarks, the Regional Coordinator, North-Central, Hajiya Maijiddah Abdulkadir, underscored the importance of strict compliance with the provisions of the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA). She emphasized the need to maintain operational integrity of retail infrastructure and ensure full adherence to Health, Safety, Security, and Environment (HSSE) standards.
Discussions at the meeting centered on critical regulatory and operational issues, including pump calibration accuracy, LPG dispensing protocols, storage tank integrity testing, fire safety systems, environmental protection measures, and enforcement of approved operating licenses.
Stakeholders—comprising petroleum marketers, filling station operators, and gas retailers—highlighted regulatory challenges, inspection procedures, and the need for ongoing technical training to enhance compliance and operational efficiency.
The engagement reaffirmed the Authority’s commitment to transparent regulation, consumer protection, product quality assurance, and safe retail operations. It also served as a strategic platform to align operators with evolving regulatory expectations while strengthening oversight of Nigeria’s downstream petroleum retail sector.
