Average price of 1 piece of egg increased by 24.37 per cent MoM in August — NBS

The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) has revealed that average price of one piece of egg increased by 24.4 per cent Month-on-Month (MoM) in August 2021 to N585.64.

The report by NBS on Monday said, “Selected food price watch data for August 2021 reflected that the average price of one dozen of Agric eggs medium size increased year-on-year by 22.27 per cent and month-on month by 1.40 per cent to N585.64 in August 2021 from N577.55 in July while the average price of piece of Agric eggs medium size (price of one) increased year-on-year by 24.37 per cent and month-on-month by 0.89 per cent to N53.20 in August 2021 from N52.73 in July 2021.

“The average price of 1kg of tomato increased year-on-year by 36.75 per cent and decreased month-on-month by -4.45 per cent to N396.38 in August 2021 from N414.83 in July 2021.

“The average price of 1kg of rice (imported high quality sold loose) increased year-on-year by 8.97 per cent and decreased month-on-month by -1.10 per cent to N546.71 in August 2021 from N552.80 in July 2021.

“Similarly, the average price of 1kg of yam tuber increased year-on-year by 19.30 per cent and decreased month on month by -1.05 per cent to N305.48 in August 2021 from N308.72 in July 2021.”
