Bagudu orders renovation of 36 PHCs in Kebbi

Kebbi state governor, Abubakar Atiku Bagudu has approved the renovation of 36 Primary Healthcare Centers (PHCs) across the state.

This was disclosed by the state’s commissioner of health, Jafar Muhammad on Tuesday in Birnin Kebbi.

He said the renovation was part of the state government’s effort to improve healthcare delivery at the grassroots level.

The commissioner explained that the renovation is to be carried out under the Saving One Million Lives program in the state.

He added that it was aimed at achieving Universal Healthcare coverage for all in the 225 wards of the state.

According to him, already 134 PHCs have been revitalized towards improving the quality of healthcare service.

He said, “The renovation of the 36 PHCs is going to improve healthcare services at the grassroots level in order to revitalize all PHCs in the state”.

“So far in his quest to improve the lives of people especially at the grassroots level, his excellency has revitalized and improved the quality of service in 134 PHCs.

“There will be additional 36 PHCs in the drive to be renovated and revitalized under the auspices of ‘Saving One Million Lives program”.

Muhammad assured that the renovation of the PHCs would bring quality service close to the people and that it would equip the PHCs with functional pharmacy, water system and laboratory among others.

While commending the state governor for his support to the ministry of health, the commissioner explained that PHCs to be renovated are Giga Kambarori and Dangaladima PHC in Aliero LGA.

He said others area, Gorun Dikko in Arewa LGA, Lailaba and Wali in Argungu LGA, Bagaye, Jabaka in Augie LGA, Lolo and Gwamba in Bagudo LGA.

He added that Randali in Birnin Kebbi LGA, Sabon Birni in Bunza LGA, Buma and Tugan Maizuma in Dandi LGA, Wadako, Danko/Wasagu, Kangi ,Gulbin Kuka in Fakai LGA, Tari, Gora Kocido in Gwandu LGA and MCH Jega in Jega LGA are also to be renovated.

According to him, others are Hirishi, Banganna in Kalgo LGA, Dutsin Mari, Lani in Koko Besse LGA, Andarai, Kawara, Saran Dosa in Maiyama LGA, Utono, Lopa in Ngaski LGA, MCH Dirin Daji in Sakaba LGA, Takpi,Tungan Giwa in Shanga LGA, Kawara in Suru LGA, Jijima, MCH Yauri in Yauri LGA while in Zuru LGA, Dabai and Tuta would also be renovated.
