Banditry: Bagudu saddened over killings in Kebbi, vows to deal with criminals

Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu of Kebbi State has assured that incisive and formidable security strategies will be sustained in dealing with acts of banditry and unwarranted killings of innocent citizens in the state.
The Governor who expressed sadness over the criminal act being unleashed on innocent citizens by the hoodlums who also rustled cattle and destroyed food crops in several villages said the act has made it impossible or difficult for farmers to go to farms.
Bagudu who stated this during a condolence visit to Gaya Village of Waje District in Danko/Wasagu Local Government Area in Zuru Emirate also commiserate with the residents over the recent massacre by bandits who infiltrated into the area from Zamfara and Niger states.
According to a statement by the Chief Press Secretary (CPS) Kebbi state government house, Abubakar Mu’azu Dakingari, the Governor offered financial support to the victims with a pledge for further assistance.
He urged various vigilante groups and volunteers to work jointly with security agencies in the restoration of security and peace. He equally tasks communities in the area to be tolerant, accommodating, friendly and peaceful devoid of anger and hatred.
Governor Bagudu also addressed women and urged them to remain in their villages and pursue their legitimate day to day life, pledging that additional security personnel would be deployed to the area.
Senator Atiku Abubakar Bagudu commended security agencies, traditional rulers, volunteers, vigilantes, politicians and all those who contributed to restoring normality in the area.
In separate remarks, Senator Bala Ibn Na’Allah, General Muhammadu Magoro, Hon. Kabiru Tukura, Hon. Haliru Aliyu Wasagu and Hon. Abdullahi Danjuma, Mr. Y.C Maikyau and the Chief of Wasagu Chiefdom, Alhaji Mukhtar Musa Wasagu thanked the Governor for his concern and the visit as well as the cash donation to the affected people.
They affirmed their resolve to support the state government in bringing an end to insecurity, appealing to the people to eschew bitterness.
The Village Head of Gaya, Alhaji Ahmad Ubandoma Gaya informed the governor that several lives were lost as a result of the attack by bandits on villages, including Gini, Gaya, Degwange, Zuttu, Doka, Makari Yar-buga and Wagara displacing the residents.
Other villages which suffered similar fate were Hasaki, Kanya, Ragu-Goru, Chediya, Dipindu, Udiya, Jigami, Makari, Korgiya, Dawada, Kawo Koru Chibangu and Wasagu.
The village head and others who spoke urged the Governor to hasten the deployment of additional security personnel to the area to enable them to return to their farms to produce food.
