Barcelona President Laporta Rules Out Lionel Messi’s Return
The president of FC Barcelona, Joan Laporta, has dismissed the possibility of club legend Lionel Messi returning to the Catalan giants, describing the idea as “unrealistic.”
Speaking to reporters on Wednesday, Laporta acknowledged Messi’s immense legacy at the club but stressed that the current circumstances make a reunion impossible.
“Messi will always be part of Barcelona’s history, but right now, his return is not realistic,” Laporta said, adding that the club is focused on building a new generation of players while maintaining financial stability.

Messi, who left Barcelona in 2021 after more than two decades due to financial constraints and La Liga salary regulations, now plays for Inter Miami in the United States. Despite fans’ hopes for a fairytale comeback, Laporta’s remarks suggest the chapter between Messi and Barcelona has officially closed.
The Argentine forward remains the club’s all-time top scorer and a symbol of its golden era, during which he helped Barcelona win numerous domestic and international titles.
