Benue: Rep Member Extends Compassion to Ugbokpo Flood Victims
In a demonstration of unwavering solidarity, Honorable Pastor Ojotu Ojema, Member representing the Apa/Agatu Federal Constituency and Chairman of the House Standing Committee on the National Inland Waterways Authority, on Tuesday paid a visit to the resilient Ugbokpo community in Apa Local Government Area of Benue State.
According to a statement by his Media Assistant, Hon Igo Igo, the purpose of this visit encompassed two significant objectives: firstly, to extend heartfelt sympathy to the victims of recent flooding, and secondly, to engage in meaningful discourse with the esteemed Onah of Ugbokpo.
During his visit, Honorable Ojema praised the remarkable sportsmanship exhibited by the venerable Onah of Ugbokpo, noting that this sportsmanship was evident through unwavering support not only during the recent election but also before and after the election.
In separate expressions of gratitude and admiration, the Omadachi Kaula of Ugbokpo commended Honorable Ojema for his swift response to the pressing issue of Ugbokpo’s electric power outage. During this commendable act, prayers for increased strength were offered for the Honorable Member. The Secretary to the Council also lauded Ojema for his intervention during the Ugbokpo power outage, highlighting it as a worthy example to emulate.
The Paramount Ruler of Ugbokpo, Chief Noah Adikwu, conveyed his profound appreciation to Honorable Ojema for his visit, specifically acknowledging his heartfelt sympathy for the tragic flood incident that resulted in a loss of lives and property.
Chief Noah Adikwu expressed gratitude, noting that while many were aware of the calamity, few reached out in person, emphasizing Honorable Ojema’s exceptional dedication despite a demanding schedule.
On behalf of Ugbokpo, he celebrated Ojema’s humility and fervently invoked divine blessings from the gods and ancestors of Apa/Agatu.
A visit to the Odejo Kapa Palace added another layer of significance to this memorable day. Discussions centred on brainstorming solutions to pressing challenges and fostering unity of purpose.
Ojema provided the royal father with a comprehensive update on his journey thus far, notably his appointment as Chairman of the Standing Committee on Inland Waterways, and also underscored the importance of nurturing and supporting emerging talents.
