General Christopher Gwabin Musa, the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), emphasized the importance of caring for victims of terrorism, labeling it as a godly act.
His remarks came during a visit to the Abuja office of the Nigeria Foundation for the Support of Terrorism.
General Musa lamented the disproportionate focus on the perpetrators of terrorism, urging for more attention to be directed towards the victims who endure severe psychological trauma.
He emphasized that every citizen is affected by terrorism, either directly or indirectly, and highlighted the peaceful state the country once enjoyed before its descent into turmoil.
Pledging the unwavering commitment of the Armed Forces of Nigeria, General Musa asserted their determination to persist in their efforts until peace is restored nationwide.
The Chairman of the foundation, Lieutenant General Theuphilous Danjuma (retired), commended the unprecedented visit by the CDS, noting the foundation’s decade-long endeavor to provide assistance to terrorism victims.
“Originally established to aid victims from Borno State, the foundation has expanded its reach to other regions with government and private funding.
Professor Nana Tanko, the executive secretary of the foundation, praised General Musa’s leadership in combating terrorism and expressed confidence in his ability to guide the Armed Forces effectively.
In a separate event, General Musa inaugurated the Unity Schools Old Students Association (USOSA) golf carnival at the IBB Golf Club, Asokoro, Abuja, earlier in the day.
He emphasized the significance of unity schools as national assets and called for collective efforts to salvage Nigeria, stressing that the Armed Forces alone cannot achieve this feat.
Dr. Mike Magaji, the President of USOSA, highlighted the inaugural golf carnival as a means to foster unity among old students and encouraged members to actively contribute to national development. Notable figures such as General Christ Musa and Captain Idris Wada are among the association’s members, reflecting a diverse and influential membership base.
