The Chief of Defence Staff of the Gambia Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Mamat OA Cham, on January 28, 2026, paid a courtesy visit to the European Union Ambassador to The Gambia, Her Excellency Immaculada Roca i Cortés, at the EU premises in Fajara.

The visit reaffirmed the strong and longstanding partnership between the Gambia Armed Forces and the European Union, with discussions centered on ongoing cooperation, continued support for the Security Sector Reform (SSR) process, and opportunities to deepen collaboration in areas of mutual interest aimed at promoting peace and security.
Both parties highlighted the importance of sustained engagement in strengthening institutional capacity and enhancing regional stability.
The meeting concluded with an exchange of commemorative tokens, symbolizing the cordial relationship and enduring cooperation between the two institutions.
