Chief of Defence Staff Commends 6 Division Personnel for Remarkable Achievements
In his routine operational visit to the Niger Delta Region (NDR), the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Gwabin Musa, expressed commendation for the remarkable achievements of personnel at Headquarters, 6 Division.
The visit included interactions with officers at the Division’s Headquarters in Port Harcourt Barracks.
General Musa conveyed his satisfaction with the strides achieved by the Division, emphasising the commitment and love for the country demonstrated by its personnel.
He acknowledged the importance of stopping criminal activities that impact the nation’s economy and stressed the need for the Armed Forces to ensure security and enhance oil production, aligning with the directives of the President and Commander-in-Chief.
“I urge you to continue to carry out your responsibilities with respect for the traditions, culture, and religion of the people, and to note that, complacency would not be tolerated,” he said, thanking the troops in the Niger Delta Region for their dedicated efforts.
Major General Jamal Abdussalam, the GOC and Land Component Commander, Joint Task Force, South South, Operation DELTA SAFE (OPDS), expressed gratitude for the CDS’s visit. He reassured that officers and soldiers of the Division remain committed to safeguarding critical national infrastructure and carrying out their responsibilities professionally.
During the visit, General Musa commissioned the newly reconstructed main entrance to Port Harcourt Barracks and the officers’ transit accommodation at the officers’ quarters. He commended the level of infrastructural development in the barracks over the last few months.
The highpoints of the visit included an operational brief to the CDS, an interactive session with field commanders of OPDS, presentation of souvenirs, and a group photograph.
