China Launches $4 Billion Hainan Ocean Paradise, the World’s Largest Underwater Theme Park

China has unveiled Hainan Ocean Paradise, a $4 billion underwater theme park offering a one-of-a-kind immersive experience. Visitors can ride through massive aquarium tunnels, surrounded by thousands of marine animals, while the park’s centerpiece roller coaster plunges 40 meters below sea level, racing past sharks, rays, and whale sharks.

The park features 8 kilometers of glass tunnels, creating the world’s longest underwater viewing path. Guests can enjoy attractions while tropical fish, sea turtles, and dolphins swim just meters away. Special “shark encounter” sections allow visitors to witness predators hunting from the safety of the ride.

Housing 50,000 animals across 200 species and holding 25 million gallons of seawater, Hainan Ocean Paradise uses natural seawater circulation and integrates water slides that empty into splash pools overlooking coral reefs.

Authorities expect the park to draw 15 million visitors annually, positioning Hainan Island as Asia’s newest tourism megadestination. By merging adrenaline-pumping rides with up-close encounters with marine life, the park represents a revolutionary approach to theme parks—bringing the ocean to thrilling new heights.
