In a significant stride towards enhancing the welfare and operational capabilities of the Nigerian Army (NA), the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, commissioned the Tukur Buratai (TYB) International Golf Resort and Country Club’s Clubhouse at the Shehu Musa Yar’adua Barracks, Asokoro, Abuja, on Tuesday.

As the Grand Patron of the Golf Resort and Country Club, General Lagbaja underscored the importance of “Sound Administration” as a vital element of his Command Philosophy.

He highlighted that the NA, under his leadership, is committed to deliberate efforts to enhance the welfare of its personnel and operational capabilities through strategic developmental projects.

These projects, he emphasized, would serve as catalysts in building a formidable and combat-effective force.

The COAS emphasized the necessity of a well-appointed Golf Clubhouse for the NA, providing a focal point for both golfers and non-golfers to socialize.

He noted that golf is gaining prominence within the Nigerian Army, dispelling the notion that it is an exclusive pastime for the elite.

General Lagbaja affirmed that the Army Headquarters would persist in elevating the NA’s administrative standards by constructing and renovating facilities to meet international benchmarks.

The commissioning ceremony marks the dawn of a new era for golfing within the NA, fostering camaraderie and esprit de corps not only among Army personnel but also with sister services and other security agencies.

General Lagbaja expressed satisfaction that the Golf Course is poised to host international tournaments, contributing significantly to Nigeria’s tourism and hospitality industry.

He reiterated the NA’s unwavering commitment to the President’s mandate to ensure peace and stability in the country, pledging to channel energy and resources towards realizing this goal.

Major General Samson Jiya, the Captain of the Club, extended gratitude to the Grand Patron, management, and members of TYB Golf Country Club for their dedication and community spirit.

He lauded the newly commissioned Course as a haven for golfers seeking skill improvement, social interaction, and the creation of enduring memories.

The TYB International Golf Resort and Country Club’s Clubhouse stands as a testament to the NA’s dedication to both the well-being of its personnel and the advancement of its operational effectiveness.
