COVID-19 Vaccine: Kebbi gov’t seeks support on implementation

The Government of Kebbi State has implored the support of traditional rulers, Islamic clerics, elders, and other interest groups in the state to embrace the COVID-19 vaccination programme in the state.

The government which affirmed that the vaccine is safe and has efficacy as certified by the federal government assured that the vaccine would be administered free.

This was disclosed by the State’s Commissioner for Health and Chairman Task Force on COVID-19, Ja’afar Muhammad, during a homage to the Emir of Gwandu and Chairman of the State Council of Chiefs, Alhaji Muhammadu Iliyasu Bashar at the Abdullahi Fodio Palace, Birnin Kebbi by the Task force.

According to the Commissioner, the team were in the place to inform the royal father that, the State Government has received doses of COVID-19 for vaccination to the people of the state.

In separate remarks, the Chief Medical Director (CMD) Sir Yahaya Memorial Hospital Birnin Kebbi, the Executive (Secretary) Kebbi Primary Healthcare Agency Dr. Abubakar Ka’oje and representative of WHO spoke about the importance for people to make themselves available for vaccination.

On his part, the Emir affirmed readiness of traditional institution to accord support and sensitize their subjects to be vaccinated.
