To enhance the capacity of the Nigerian Customs Service in detecting concealed items like weapons from being smuggled into the country has installed two NUCTECH MT1213DE mobile scanners for them at the Tincan Island Port.

OurNigeria News Magazine gathered that these specific mobile scanners have higher penetration and lower scanning height to identify concealed contraband or dangerous materials like explosives, narcotics, and guns easily, and can be deployed at land borders or other places where security inspections of large vehicles are required.

A customs officer who spoke on the condition of anonymity stated that since the installation of the scanners sometime last year, smuggling of contraband has drastically been reduced.

His words: “It is gratifying to know that ever since the Customs Service began using these scanners last year, they have increasingly bolstered the smuggling of large shipments of arms and other contraband, thereby making their purchase, a very worthy investment.
