Group Managing Director of Dangote Cement, Mr. Arvind Pathak, said the retreat was aimed at sensitizing drivers on safe driving habits, discipline, and their role as ambassadors of the company on Nigerian roads. He stressed the dangers of drug use, fatigue, and proxy driving, reminding participants that “your life is precious, and your families need you.”

The event, themed “Drive Safely, Arrive Safely,” featured sessions on defensive driving, vehicle maintenance, fatigue management, and included an award ceremony for outstanding drivers.

Head of Transport, Mr. Murilo Silva, announced that new technology-driven Control Towers are being built in Obajana to monitor driver behavior in real time and enhance safety. He urged drivers to avoid overspeeding and show patience on highways and in traffic.

Other speakers, including Dr. James Adenuga, Group Head of Health, Safety, Social, Environment & Sustainability at Dangote Industries, and transport expert, Mr. Samuel Odo, emphasized the importance of building a culture of safe driving.

Traditional rulers, including the Bajana of Obajana, HRH Idowu Isenibi, and the Olu of Apata, HRH Frederick Balogun, also attended the retreat, commending Aliko Dangote for creating opportunities for drivers and urging participants to respect traffic rules.
