Maiduguri, Borno State – In a major humanitarian gesture, the Aliko Dangote Foundation (ADF) has donated 40,000 bags of 10kg rice to families in Borno State, offering crucial relief amid the country’s economic challenges.
Borno State Governor, Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum, lauded the initiative at the official flag-off of the Food Intervention Programme on Wednesday in Maiduguri. Represented by the Director General of the Borno State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), Mr. Ali Abdullahi Isa, the governor described the donation as a significant milestone in efforts to alleviate hardship, particularly during the holy month of Ramadan.
“Today marks a significant milestone in our collective efforts to alleviate the suffering of our people,” Isa stated, emphasizing that the donation reflects ADF’s commitment to supporting vulnerable communities.
The food distribution is part of a broader N16 billion intervention by the Aliko Dangote Foundation, which aims to deliver one million bags of rice across Nigeria’s 774 local government areas.
Usman Muhammad, a representative of the foundation, reaffirmed ADF’s dedication to complementing government efforts in improving Nigerians’ living conditions. “This initiative is targeted at the poor and vulnerable, ensuring that those most in need receive support,” he said.
