In a momentous event attended by enthusiastic stakeholders, government officials, and citizens of Kaduna, His Excellency Senator Uba Sani, Governor of Kaduna State, performed the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of the remodelled Panteka Market. This joint initiative between the Kaduna State Government and the Old Panteka Market Development Association (OPMDA) aims to transform the market into a modern hub of economic activity.

The state government’s plans for the market include the construction of essential facilities such as a clinic, fire station, outdoor public toilets, incinerators, transformers, security posts, places of worship, and an ICT Center, all strategically located within the market premises. Meanwhile, OPMDA will oversee the construction of shops in the revamped market.

Once completed, the remodelled Panteka Market will serve as a vital center for skills acquisition, creating numerous job opportunities for residents. It is poised to become the largest technology hub in Northern Nigeria, playing a significant role in the state’s economic revitalization efforts. The market will offer training in various trades, including carpentry, welding, painting, roofing, plumbing, and electrical work, empowering youths with valuable skills for employment and entrepreneurship.

Governor Uba Sani expressed gratitude to the leadership and members of the Old Panteka Market for their collaboration in making the groundbreaking ceremony a reality. He also acknowledged the support of the Executive Secretary of the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), Prof. Idris Bugaje, and the management of Kaduna Polytechnic for their assistance in formalizing skills training at Panteka Market under the Nigerian Skills Qualification Framework (NSQF). With NSQF certification, graduates of Panteka Market will have enhanced opportunities for employment both locally and internationally.
