He commended the Dangote Group for its continued commitment to Nigeria’s economic development and for supporting the Kano Trade Fair, noting that Governor Abba Kabiru Yusuf has created an enabling environment for businesses to thrive.

As one of the major sponsors of the 2025 Trade Fair, the Dangote Group confirmed that a key aspect of its ongoing collaboration with Kano State is the development of a world-class rice milling plant. The project is aimed at boosting local rice production, enhancing value addition, and providing modern processing capabilities that meet both national and international standards.

In addition, the Aliko Dangote Foundation continues to implement impactful social programmes in Kano, focusing on education, health, nutrition, and empowerment.

Highlights of the Foundation’s interventions include:

  • Food security and nutrition: Distribution of 120,000 rice bags and over 10,000 iftar meals during 2024/2025, as well as Ready-To-Use Therapeutic Food (RUTF) for children suffering from severe malnutrition.
  • Empowerment and poverty alleviation: Micro-grants provided to women and vulnerable groups to establish or expand small-scale businesses.
  • Education support: Funding of a modern Business School facility at Bayero University, Kano, and dormitory and power upgrades at Kano State University of Science & Technology, Wudil.
  • Healthcare support: Establishment of a Surgical and Diagnostic Centre at Murtala Mohammed Specialist Hospital, Kano.

The company also announced that it will unveil new packaging options – 100-gram and 25-kilogram bags – at its Special Day on December 4, 2025, during the Trade Fair.

Mr. Dayo Laniyan, Regional Director for Cement, Northwest, noted that the Fair’s theme, “Empowering SMEs for Sustainable Growth,” aligns with the company’s philosophy, emphasizing the critical role of small and medium enterprises in economic development.

Ambassador Hassan Usman Darma, President of the Kano Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines, and Agriculture (KACCIMA), revealed that over 1,000 exhibitors from Nigeria and abroad are participating, describing the Fair as “unique due to improvements, expansion, and new structures at the site.”

Ambassador Darma added, “We have valued a long-standing relationship with Dangote Group. It is our major sponsor. In this year’s fair, we want to partner with the Dangote Group on SME development, backward integration, and industrial skills transfer.”
