Dangote main contributor to Nigeria’s agric sector-NAFN

The National Agricultural Foundation of Nigeria (NAFN) says the Dangote Group is a major contributor to the development of the country’s agricultural industry.

The National Coordinator of the NAFN, Dr Samuel Negedu, described the Dangote Group as a behemoth and the backbone of the country’s agriculture sector during the opening ceremony of the 2023 National Agriculture Show.

He stated that the corporation is constructing rice mills that will help the Nigerian government achieve food security in the country.

He complimented the company and Alhaji Aliko Dangote for constructing Africa’s largest fertiliser plant.
“The Dangote Group is also the major sponsor of the ongoing 2023 National Agricultural Show,” he said.

Speaking at the event, the Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Senator Abubakar Kyari, said the government has immediate and short-term plans for developing a standard framework for the ease of doing agricultural business in the country.”

Dr. Emmanuel Akabe, Deputy Governor of Nasarawa State, advised stakeholders to invest heavily in agriculture to convert Nigeria into a country focused on food security and value chain addition.

In addition, Arch Kabiru Ibrahim, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the National Agricultural Foundation of Nigeria (NAFN), stated that this year’s topic, “Towards the Realisation of the Presidential Declaration of Emergency on Food Security”, is appropriate.

He said the theme was, “chosen in recognition of the need for all stakeholders in Nigeria to work towards the actualization of the resolve of the administration of President Tinubu to address the challenges of food security.”
