Joint Task Force Rescues 31 Kidnapped Persons in Sokoto

In a commendable display of valour, troops from the Joint Task Force North West Operation HADARIN DAJI successfully rescued 31 kidnapped individuals in various locations across Sokoto State on Tuesday.

The Nigerian Army shared this significant achievement in an official statement released on its official social media handle on Wednesday.

Under the astute leadership of Major General Godwin Mutkut, the General Officer Commanding 8 Division Nigerian Army, Sokoto, the troops have been actively engaging in a relentless campaign against terrorism. Their continuous efforts involve conducting a series of clearance operations to eliminate terrorist enclaves within the North West region.

The statement highlighted a recent successful clearance operation on November 21, 2023, in Tangaza Local Government Area of Sokoto State. During this operation, the troops successfully cleared Alya Fulani village and the Buani forest, resulting in the rescue of 30 kidnapped persons. The resolute soldiers destroyed all identified terrorist hideouts, compelling the terrorists to abandon their captives and flee before the advancing troops.

The operation did not conclude there, as the troops proceeded to Goboro village, where an additional female kidnapping victim was rescued. The overwhelming firepower superiority of the troops forced the terrorists and bandits into disarray, facilitating the safe rescue of the kidnapped individual.

The Joint Task Force’s commitment to eradicating the menace of kidnapping and terrorism in the North West is evident in its proactive and strategic operations. This recent success underscores the effectiveness of their efforts in bringing relief to the communities affected by these criminal activities.
