Residents are in panic as gunmen attack Adamawa police headquarters.
In the early hours of Wednesday, panic gripped the residents of Yola as gunmen launched an attack on the Adamawa State Police Headquarters situated in Jimeta.
According to a report by the Daily Trust, the state police public relations officer, SP Suleiman Nguroje, confirmed the attack but said things were under control.
“The attack was repelled, but the identities of those behind it were unknown,” Nguroje was quoted as saying.
A source quoted by the Daily Trust suggested that the attackers might be military personnel seeking revenge for the alleged killing of one of their own by the police.
Although the newspaper said it could not independently verify if military personnel were involved, the police said investigations were ongoing to ascertain the cause of the attack and those behind it.
