Tinubu Reaffirms Commitment to Project Nigeria After Prayers Inside Holy Ka’abah

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reaffirmed his commitment to building a prosperous Nigeria, investing in the future of young people and pursuing national development in line with the will of Almighty Allah and the aspirations of Nigerians.

The President made this known on Monday while reflecting on his spiritual journey to Saudi Arabia to perform Umrah, during which he and members of his delegation were granted the rare privilege of entering the Holy Ka’abah in Makkah to offer prayers.

Tinubu expressed gratitude to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman for granting him and his delegation the opportunity.

Sheikh Dahlulah Muthawal of Masjid al-Haram led the President into the Ka’abah, where he offered prayers of gratitude to Almighty Allah for the privilege of serving as Nigeria’s President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces.

Describing the experience as historic and deeply cherished, Tinubu said the honour reflected the longstanding friendship, mutual respect and cooperation between Nigeria and Saudi Arabia.

He also thanked the Saudi authorities for their hospitality and recognition, noting that the green, white and green colours around the Ka’abah reminded him of Nigeria’s national identity.

The President said he prayed for wisdom and resilience to continue serving Nigerians, expressing confidence that Almighty Allah had answered his prayers.

“I asked for wisdom and resilience to continue to serve the people. I know that prayer has been granted,” he said, recalling that he had made a similar prayer during his Umrah before the 2023 general elections and promised to return in gratitude.

Reflecting on Surah Aal-Imran, Verse 26 of the Holy Qur’an, which affirms that Almighty Allah grants and takes away power and authority as He wills, Tinubu described leadership as a trust that must be exercised with humility and responsibility in the service of the people.

He said his experience had further strengthened his belief that his emergence as Nigeria’s leader was a special blessing from Allah, which must be matched with dedicated service to the country.

“My commitment to Project Nigeria is higher. I am determined to usher in prosperity and fully develop the country, consistent with the wish of Allah and the support of the people,” the President said.

On the economy, Tinubu expressed optimism about the progress recorded under his administration, describing the country’s economic foundation as solid and its emergence from a difficult period as encouraging.

“The foundation is solid, and the economy has come out of the dark tunnel. This is inspiring,” he said.

The President also stressed the need to invest in young Nigerians, noting that decisions taken by present leaders would shape how future generations remember them.

He said his administration would remain focused on strengthening the economy, expanding opportunities for young people and creating an environment where Nigerians could realise their potential.

Tinubu urged leaders to put Allah first, follow their conscience and pursue policies that would move the country towards greater development.

Members of the delegation, including the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi, SAN; Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Professor Muhammad Ali Pate; and governors of Borno, Sokoto, Jigawa, Kaduna, Yobe and Kwara states, also expressed gratitude to Almighty Allah for the opportunity to enter the sacred site and pray alongside the President.

Business leaders, including Chairman of BUA Group, Alhaji Abdulsamad Rabiu, and Chief Executive Officer of Oando Plc, Wale Tinubu, were also among those who shared in the spiritual experience.
