Defence Minister Badaru Pays Tribute to Fallen Heroes, Vows Justice for Okuoma Attack

The Honourable Minister of Defence, Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, made a solemn visit to the Headquarters of 1 Division Nigerian Army in Kaduna on March 21, 2024, to offer condolences and solidarity to the troops mourning the loss of their comrades in the tragic incident at Okuoma Community, Delta State.

In his address to the troops, Minister Badaru expressed his heartfelt condolences, denouncing the heinous act perpetrated by criminals. He vowed, “You don’t kill our men and survive, you don’t kill our men and go scot-free. We will find them and deal with them.” His words echoed a firm commitment to justice and underscored the unwavering support of the government in apprehending the perpetrators.

Acknowledging the sacrifices and unwavering dedication of the troops, the Minister commended their selfless service in safeguarding the nation against various threats. He lauded their vigilance and determination, emphasising President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s steadfast commitment to eradicating insecurity and ensuring the safety of all Nigerians.

Urging the troops to redouble their efforts, Minister Badaru emphasised the importance of resilience and determination in the fight against banditry, terrorism, and other criminal activities. He reassured the nation, particularly the families of abducted Kuriga School Children, of ongoing efforts to secure their safe return, offering a message of hope and solidarity during challenging times.

The visit was marked by a fitting quarter guard reception for the Minister, detailed briefings on military operations, and an address to the troops, culminating in group photographs to commemorate the occasion.

In a separate engagement, the honourable Minister reiterated his commendation for the heroic efforts of the Nigerian Armed Forces during an address to officers and men of the 1st Division Nigerian Army in Kaduna. He emphasised President Tinubu’s recognition of their sacrifice and combat readiness in confronting security threats, reaffirming the government’s commitment to ensuring peace, unity, and progress in the nation.

Expressing solidarity with the bereaved families of the fallen soldiers from the 181 Amphibious Battalion, Minister Badaru condemned the attack in its entirety, pledging unwavering support for ongoing efforts to rescue the abducted school children in Kaduna State. He affirmed President Tinubu’s tireless dedication to national security, promising that the government’s initiatives would yield positive results in securing the nation.
