In a touching display of compassion and support, the President of the Defence and Police Officers’ Wives Association (DEPOWA), Mrs. Oghogho Gwabin Musa, distributed palliatives to widows of fallen heroes in Bayelsa State.
The event, which coincided with the Armed Forces Day Celebration 2024, which took place at the Headquarters Operation Delta Safe.
Mrs. Musa, accompanied by her entourage, was warmly received by Rear Admiral EO Ferreira, the Commander of Operation Delta Safe.
In his remarks, the Commander expressed his heartfelt appreciation for DEPOWA’s visit and highlighted the significant impact the Association has made in the lives of widows and vulnerable individuals.
The day’s program was filled with poignant moments, as Mrs. Musa interacted with the widows and offered words of encouragement.
She assured them that the sacrifices of their fallen loved ones would never be forgotten and emphasized that they were not alone in their grief.

President DEPOWA’s visit also included a courtesy call on the First Lady of Bayelsa, Dr. Mrs. Gloria Diri. They engaged in a warm discussion, with Mrs. Musa expressing her gratitude for the First Lady’s support for widows and vulnerable populations within the state.
Recognizing the challenges faced by these communities, she further extended a plea for ongoing assistance, particularly for women and youths residing in barracks communities.
