DEPOWA President Launches Palliative Distribution to Widows at 6 Division

Mrs. Oghogho Gwabin Musa, the President of Defence and Police Officers’ Wives Association (DEPOWA), marked the Armed Forces Remembrance Day Celebration 2024 by initiating the distribution of palliatives to widows of fallen heroes, suring an event at the 29 Battalion Parade Ground, Port Harcourt Barracks on Thursday January 11, 2024.

During the occasion, President of DEPOWA dedicated the event to the wives of fallen heroes, commending their resilience. She encouraged the widows to engage in DEPOWA’s programs, providing opportunities for self-employment and entrepreneurship for their children.

Chief of Defence Military Relations, Admiral IA Dewu, emphasised the importance of supporting the wives of fallen heroes as an act of compassion and solidarity. He acknowledged the strength and resilience of the widows, pledging recognition for their sacrifices.

Mrs. Folake Lasisi, representing all widows, expressed gratitude on behalf of her peers. “We thank DEPOWA and its team for this act of generosity, which has provided us a sense of belonging despite the absence of our husbands. We sincerely appreciate this.”

Major General Jamal Abdussalam, the General Officer Commanding 6 Division and Land Component Commander Joint Task Force South South Operation Delta Safe, was on hand to receive the President of DEPOWA at the 6 Division Headquarters.

He appreciated the visit and urged DEPOWA to sustain its impactful efforts in supporting widows and the vulnerable.

The event featured a courtesy call to the GOC, souvenir presentations, distribution of palliatives to widows of the Armed Forces, and group photographs.
